APPEARANCE Striking and gorgeous--she may not be the most beautiful woman in the world, but she could easily be in most people's top ten. She has striking red hair that she keeps tied back in a ponytail. A cute face with bright eyes and full lips. It's hard to tell that she's not entirely human, but if you study her long enough, her features are a little too fine and her fingers a little too long for an average human. She has an hourglass figure and a generous rack that she doesn't bother to cover up most days, even when it's freezing out. She favors skimpy and revealing clothes regardless of whether or not it's appropriate for the situation. She has a red tattoo that stretches from her sternum to her navel. She looks like a sleaze and carries herself in a very casual way. SKILLSShura was trained in her clan's school of fighting and is a master of the Kirigakure style. She later received some medical training and has a fairly extensive knowledge of medicinal plants and alternative remedies. She was also trained in subterfuge. ABILITIES |
| PERSONALITY CAPRICIOUS - She lies about her age and motivations and just does whatever she wants. There's no point in not having fun in this life, even if it means stressing out some fuddy duddies. LAZY - If she can get someone else to do her work for her, great. She might cause problems, but it's a calculated move. Sometimes causing trouble upfront means less work later on down the line. TEMPERAMENTAL - Shura has feelings, and she's quick to react, whether in anger or something more positive. She's controlled, but she won't hold back from thumping anyone who annoys her or doling out praise if she's satisfied. PERCEPTIVE - While not the smartest, Shura's intuition is reliable. She notices the small details and her gut instinct is usually correct. RESPONSIBLE - In spite of her laziness, she's not going to let anyone get hurt if she can help it. Somehow, she keeps being assigned to leadership roles and in spite of her reluctance to take responsibility, she ends up doing a pretty good job keeping her men in one piece. LOYAL - It's hard to win Shura's loyalty, but once she's attached, she's willing to go to hell and back for her loved ones, even if it means turning her sword on the man who raised her. KEY EVENTS IN GAME HISTORYANCESTRAL CONTRACT - Some generations ago, a human woman named Tatsuko escaped from her clan into the northern hinterlands, not far from Krimnos. As she was taking with her valuable secrets of an assassin clan, her former associated were sent to silence her. Tatsuko was mortally wounded during her flight, but happened on a solitary beastfolk man who fell in love with her and offered her power and the chance to avenge herself on her clan in exchange for the freedom of her descendants as she was not likely to live for long and he was a lonely man. Tatsuko readily agreed to this. Shura was the most recent generation in the Kirigakure line and was brought up to follow in her ancestor's footsteps, learning the Kirigakure style of fighting as well as learning magic from Hachiro. Her childhood was hell, ad she had no chance of escaping on her own. RESCUE - Shura was saved on accident by a man name Shiro Fujimoto when she was still young. Hachiro was impressed with Shiro's strength and agreed to let Shura go with him to Krimnos on the condition that she return when she was older and had a child. Having some sympathy for the dirty little brat, Shiro reluctantly took her in as her student for a few years until she was old enough to enroll at the military academy he taught at. For all that was was naturally gifted and already had a young lifetime of training behind her, Shura was an indolent student. During this time, Shura met one of Shiro's adoptive sons, a cowardly boy name Yukio, and had a lot of fun harassing him when she wasn't trying to get Shiro's attention. Eventually, Shiro had to throw her out of the academy and Shura grudgingly enlisted in the military because there wasn't much else for someone like her. GROWTH - For all that she was terrible in school, Shura quickly found her niche in the military. She was capable, sly, and responsible, and she was able to rise through the ranks quickly. She spent some time as a spy, but would eventually return to Krimnos to teach at the military academy after Shiro's death. Prior to his death, Shiro had asked Shura to take his other adopted son, Rin, on as her student. Shura refused Shiro at that time due in large part to her wounded ego, but after meeting Rin eventually caved and agreed to teach him. She reunited with Yukio at this time, and though she still teased him, it was hard to miss the bond between them. FREEDOM - However, as tensions grew between the kingdoms, Shura was called by Hachiro to return to the forests of her childhood as there were suspicious people mucking about. Though Shura had no intention on returning, she couldn't leave the aging Hachiro in his time of need. He was cruel, but Shura knew well enough that he was also terribly lonely and so empathized with him. Shura left Krimnos suddenly, unaware that Rin and Yukio would follow after her once they realized something was wrong. A confrontation followed when the four met in the wild forest. Yukio was nearly killed, but the thought of Hachiro hurting one of the two people she actually cared for was enough to make her turn her sword against Hachiro for the first time in her life. The shock of his beloved turning on him was enough to defeat Hachiro, and Shura was freed from his curse. After this, Shura was determined to make a better life for herself. However, war broke out , war broke out and her good intentions had to be put on the back-burner until things calmed down. Unfortunately, Shura was killed early in the war, recognized by Thalassan soldier who knew her from her days as a spy and recognized her potential danger, and so was never able to try and live out the life Shiro had wished for her. | |

Shura is the product of a centuries old contract before an immortal demon and a human woman. The woman was given the demon's power in exchange for the lifespans of her descendants. Born to this line, Shura can remember the three things Hachiro taught her from the beginning. The first is that she will become beautiful, the second that she will become strong, and the third, that she will bear a child and die young. Brought up in a cold wilderness under Hachiro's brutal care, Shura developed several bad habits, all of which influenced her later decision afters being saved by Shiro Fujimoto.
-WRATH There are two other things Shura learned two things very early on. She was always cold, and being cold made her angry. And that rage was encouraged by Hachiro. She reacts with anger on reflex if things don't go her way. After her sexual advances are rejected by Shiro, she brings up the dead woman he loves. When Shiro asks her to teach Rin, she tells him that he never should have been given a kid to raise to begin with and refuses his request and tells him never to show his face to her again. She's completely unafraid of calling her superiors names when she's not happy with them. Her temper may be well controlled, but it's there, quietly burning.
-LUST Shura's beautiful. She knows it. Men want her, and she's supposed to play around. But more than that, Shura wants to live it up and seek out all the pleasure she can while she's alive. She'll drink all the beer, eat all the food, and fool around as much as she likes. And she'll do whatever she has to to try and get what she wants, even if means fooling around with the bad crowd because Shiro isn't paying enough attention to her, and when that doesn't work the way she wants, she'll just flat out take off her shirt for his attention. Fun is the name of the only game she feels she can play, and she plays it very well.
-DETACHMENT But above all else, Shura knows what her fate is. Without a way to abrogate Hachiro's curse, she sees no point in creating or developing any kind of bonds that she might come to regret when it comes time to leave them behind. Thirty years isn't that long, and who would be happy with her knowing that she was fated to die so young? It isn't fair, and its easier for her to accept the unfairness of it all instead of struggling, being cruel to be kind. But because of this, there's nothing to ground her. She has no cause or goal to direct her energy towards, which leads to boredom, which leads to some terrible life choices. Why not drink too much and stay out late, and why not go home with strange men? What else is she going to do, stay at home and clean her room? No, it's better to go out and have fun and enjoy what time she has.
-PASSION Shura has feelings. A lot of them. Without guidance, those feelings can easily turn to darker emotions, such as rage and lust. But given the proper direction, they become one of her best traits. So sure, she may not want to make friends with her fellow exorcists, but she cares just enough that she'll do her best to ensure that everyone comes back from a mission. When Shiro tells her that he's raising Rin as a weapon for the Order, Shura turns around and tells Yukio what she's been told because she honestly believes he deserves to know and cares enough about him to disobey Shiro's request that she keep this a secret. In the future, given a closer bond with the Okumura brothers, it'll be that passion that fuels her desire to live and finally free herself from Hachiro's emotional grasp.
-PERCEPTION While not being the smartest in the room, Shura's sharp. From having physical senses sharp enough to detect Mephisto and Amaimon in the sky during the exwire's training camp to being able to read Rin well enough to know he lost his courage in Kyoto, not much gets past Shura. It's a mixture of training and intuition, and it's rare that she won't pursue a problem when her gut tells her that something is wrong.

After receiving a message from Hachiro about some suspicious people prowling around his turf, Shura returned to Aomori. She saw something odd out of the corner of her eye and pursued it. If she could remember it, she'd really regret it!

It's easy to assume the worst of someone like Shura, who doesn't seem to take much seriously, lies about her age, and has even been known drink on the job. But as the saying goes, still water runs deep. Take a few steps back. Some generations ago, one Kirigakure Tatsuko made a contract with with the immortal demon Hachirotaro. In exchange for power, Tatsuko and her descendants would be cursed to die once they turned thirty and that they would bear one child for Hachiro before their death. Said child was cursed to look exactly as Tatsuko had. Why? Because an immortal demon needs an immortal girlfriend, that's why. This was the life Shura was born into, to learn the Kirigakure style, become as strong as Tatsuko, bear a child, then die before she could become old and unsightly. Without a name, stuck in a frozen world that she despised, Shura couldn't understand why she existed at all. Unlike her predecessors, Shura was able to escape Hachiro's territory after being rescued by Shiro Fujimoto. But even with her newfound freedom, Shura still couldn't figured out just why she was alive. Furthermore, she was going to die anyway. Why should she tie herself down to something as abstract as a decent life? She was going to have fun with her few years. So she became feckless person, living a casual life, not particularly caring about the future. Why should she worry about it when she wasn't going to get very far? Why make bonds and develop intimate relationships if she was just going to die on them anyway? So what if she was sleeping around with random strangers--reputation doesn't matter to a dead woman. And if she's blunt and straight to the point, well who doesn't just want to cut straight to the chase sometimes? There are feelings underneath her tough exterior, of course. She may not be kind, but she does care, even if she tries not to show it. Even if the Exwire kids can be a little annoying sometimes, she doesn't want anything to actually hurt them. When she does start to care about someone, she feels it deeply and intensely. Though Shiro was largely negligent when it came to caring for her--though for a good reason, considering that Shura wanted to sleep with him from the get go and she was only nine at the time...--, she was attached to him and felt betrayed by him, first when he told her to leave cram school, then again when she discovered that he was raising the son of Satan in secret. She's teased Yukio mercilessly since he was young, and when they meet again years later, she's quick to resume taunting and playing with him. But beneath that, she's paid careful attention to him and bluntly warns him of the danger he puts himself in by keeping everything inside. With Rin, while Shura was perfectly ready to kill him as the son of Satan, but she is won over by his assertion that he will become the paladin and defeat Satan. So maybe she doesn't really believe his outlandish claim, but still, she recognizes the resolve behind that claim, and suddenly, he's no longer the son of Satan to her, but the son of the man she idolized for so long. Whether she likes it or not, these two boys occupy a rather large space in her heart. So much so that she has no issue with confronting Mephisto about his intentions regarding Rin after the defeat of the Impure King. During their fight with Hachiro, Shura is beyond willing to give up her life if it means that Yukio and Rin come out of it safe and unharmed. And about being lazy... it is true. Shura isn't fond of having to take charge or take responsibility for anything. After being named the captain of the (tokyo reinforcements), she's complains about it to most anyone who will listen. She is, however, incredibly capable. Her whining ends once they're in Kyoto, where she shows herself to actually be a competent leader. She's sharp and perceptive, noticing the smallest details. For instance, she's completely aware of Mephisto and Amaimon's presence during the summer training camp. There's a reason why she's a member of the Angelic Legion in spite of her attitude. She's quick, strong, and understands how to work in a team. It's pretty much overnight that her worldview changes. The contract with Hachiro is nullified by Rin and Yukio's efforts (and maybe Shima just a little, but only just a little), and suddenly, Shura has a whole lifetime in front of her. And damn it, she's going to do it right, deciding to leave behind her history of hanging around muscleheads and drinking all night long. Well, she's going to try. It's a big change, she's going to strike out a few times. But now, without a death sentence hanging over her head, she no longer has a reason to hide her devotion to Rin or Yukio. Mephisto may have been able to scare her the first time she confronted him about his plans, but the second time, she has no issuing lobbing her sword at Mephisto, going so far as to tell him that next time, she won't miss. The Okumura brothers are her world, everything else be damned, which is a pretty big step for someone who's resisted any kind of attachment her entire life. She's growing, though her new life has only just begun. Abilities: -Ninjitsu Shura is a master of the Kirigakure style of fighting. With it, she's fast and hard hitting, though she's no longer as powerful without Hachiro's contract or without something else possessing the blade. She's also pretty good at skulking around. -Upper First Class Exorcist Shura has obtained four out of the five Meister titles (Knight, Tamer, Aria, and Doctor) and has extensive knowledge and experience when it comes to fighting demons, including an extensive knowledge of demon strengths and weaknesses, sutras and chants, a knowledge of how to treat demon-related injuries, and expertise on summoning demons. The series hasn't gotten super specific about some of her skills, but to get a little more in depth... KNIGHT: The knight Meister is pretty straightforward, someone fighting demons on the front lines. Shura is a master of the Kirigakure style, which has been shown to be fast and hard hitting during her fight with Rin. A lot of Shura's strength in battle can be contributed to the power she was granted through her contract with Hachiro. While she previously had some regenerative abilities through the contract as well, her own strength is the same as an average human who's received similar physical training. With Hachiro's contract, Shura was able to use techniques like Serpent Fang, which generated air projectiles that she could use, and Gara Gara, which could cause a demon to temporarily lose his demonic powers. She could also transform her sword into a longer, split form that was substantially stronger than its initial form. Without the contract, Shura lost a substantial amount of power, enough that she requested to be demoted. She retained Fang and the more mundane aspects of the Kirigakure style after breaking from Hachiro, but without a demon possessing her sword, she is unable to use techniques such as Serpent Fang or Gara Gara. The difference in her power can be seen during her fight with a cyclops--on her own, she's able to partially disable the cyclops, but it isn't until she's loaned the power of General Frost that she's able to defeat the demon. It is possible for another demon to possess Fang, but that would probably something to be obtained as a reward rather than just happening as a lark. ARIA: Someone who fights demons by reciting holy scriptures. There's a few times when she's using these set of skills, mostly in a support role, such as when she prepared defenses against Amaimon's attacks in the forest by forming a protective barrier, as well when restraining Rin when he loses his temper and shows his flames, and later she's able to help boost the power of the fires used to fight the Impure King as well as support Suguro's fire barrier during the same incident. Unless she's going up against a demon from her world, most of the fatal verses and other sutras are going to be either pretty well useless or not very effective. Without the support from Hachiro's contract and her familiars, it's more difficult for her to raise these barrier and they will take more energy out of her to maintain them. TAMER: Someone who can summon and control demons. As part of her contract with Hachiro, Shura had several snake familiars that could assist in tracking and other tasks, but since her contract has been broken, she no longer has access to these. She can assist in summoning rituals because she has the knowledge and experience, such as when she helped summon Ucchusma in Kyoto, but she would have to form a new contract if she wanted to try summoning something for herself. DOCTOR: The general idea behind this Meister is someone who knows how to treat Temptaint and other demon-related injuries. It's confirmed in the beginning of the Kyoto arc when a section of the Northern Cross campus appears to have been contaminated by Coal Tars that Shura has this Meister and should go help with the problem because of it, but it's not something that the series goes into much detail about. CARNIVALβ΄ Soul Colour: Red Ideal Jobs: Bouncer, Patrol, Thief, Scout, or Mercenary Relevant Experience: Shura's spent her life training to master her ancestor's fighting style and fighting demons paid her rent before she ended up here. She also has previous experience in scouting and sneaking around. Let's be honest, she'll complain no matter what work she gets.
